Parks levy funding in action: courtesy docks revitalized at Richardson Park in time for summer fun

Two courtesy docks at Richardson Campground, Park and Marina have been revitalized using funding from the voter-approved levy for Lane County Parks.

“We are excited to be improving the experience for all visitors to our park,” said Lane County Parks Manager Brett Henry. “Lane County Parks are meant to be welcoming and safe places for everyone and the improvements – like the docks at Richardson – that we are planning with levy funding will help make that a reality.”

The docks, which were in a state of disrepair due to a lack of funding, are located adjacent to the boat ramp in the marina and in the day use area. The docks were repaired just in time for a busy summer season.

“Richardson is our largest campground, has a large day use area, and the marina has more than 200 boat slips,” said Henry. “In the summer it is a wonderful place to gather with family and friends to enjoy the water. It’s been really great to see so many people enjoying the improved docks this summer.”

About the Lane County Parks Levy

Lane County Parks historically relied on user fees and tourism-related taxes for support, with no property tax funding. With the Lane County Parks system encompassing nearly 70 properties, funding levels had proven inadequate for sustaining proper maintenance and substantial investment. The Lane County Parks Levy bridges this gap, inviting the community to invest in its own well-being, recreation, and natural legacy.
