The board coordinator is responsible for assembling and posting the agendas for Board of County Commissioners meetings, facilitating the virtual components of Board meetings, and ensuring Board decisions are tracked and recorded.

The Board of County Commissioners legislates and administers County government within the limits of its authority granted in the Lane County Home Rule Charter. The charter grants legislative and administrative power to the full-time, paid five-person board. Learn more about the Board.

Budget and Financial Planning

The Budget and Financial Planning team provides award-winning financial management, analysis, planning and support to the County Administrator and Board of County Commissioners
.

It provides services including financial and budgetary assistance to departments, committees and the County Administrator, development and performance of complex financial and policy analysis of new and existing programs, revenue measures, financing strategies and budget performance.

Budget and Financial Planning is also responsible for budget preparation and administration in accordance with Oregon Revised Statute 294 (Oregon Local Budget Law). Learn more about Budget and Financial Planning.

County Administrator

The County Administrator is appointed by and reports directly to the Board of County Commissioners. County Administrator Steve Mokrohisky (Mo-crow-hi-ski) joined Lane County in May 2014. He has served in county government leadership in Oregon, Nevada and Wisconsin for more than 20 years.

Steve has led with a focus on utilizing limited resources for critical services, practical financial management and meaningful public engagement. Lane County’s recent financial management efforts have been recognized by several independent agencies, including the Oregon Secretary of State and Moody’s Investors Service. In 2019, Lane County’s bond rating was raised for the second time in two years to the second highest rating offered due to efforts to create long-term financial stability.

Steve received a B.A. from Marquette University and an M.B.A from the University of Wisconsin. He is also a public policy graduate of the Les Aspen Center for Government in Washington, D.C. In 2021, Steve was elected to the position of president of the National Association of County Administrators.

Financial Services is responsible for maintaining and reporting all financial transactions on an accurate and timely basis and preparing financial statements in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).  Financial Services maintains effective accounting systems to control and report the receipt and disbursement of County funds and taxing districts funds and is responsible for receiving and recording all County expenditures and revenue obligations.  Learn more about Financial Services.

The Justice Court is location in Florence. Its mission is to provide fair and equal access to court services for local citizens such as impartial adjudication of traffic, civil, County violations, animal regulation and small claims cases in a neutral environment. The Lane County Law Library has a library catalog and access to online databases with thousands of titles from a variety of legal publishers; the collection primarily focuses on Oregon resources. Staff will make every effort to guide patrons to the most appropriate and authoritative resources in order to conduct the most meaningful and targeted legal research.
