The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) offers a variety of free, online emergency preparedness and emergency response trainings for community members. You many need to register for a FEMA "SID" number before accessing the trainings.

Lane County Animal Services strongly encourages volunteers to complete the following FEMA courses to gain a greater understanding of government operations in the case of an emergency. Preference may be given to volunteers who have recent animal experience and have completed the following courses:

IS-11.A - Animals in Disasters: Community Planning

IS-111.A - Livestock in Disasters

ICS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System

ICS-200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
