As of March 2020, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office requires appointments for all new CHL applications, CHL Renewals, or CHL transfers into Lane County and all fingerprinting services. You can make an appointment for these services through the “BOOK AN APPOINTMENT” link below.
We also have an additional, limited option for CHL Renewals only. CHL holders that have a CHL that is less than 6 months expired, or will be expiring in the next 60 days, can arrive at the Lane County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesdays between the hours of 9:00 a.m.. and 3:00 p.m. to renew their CHL. Priority will still be given to those with a scheduled appointment. Those wishing to obtain a CHL for the first time must make a scheduled appointment as walk-ins for new applications will not be accepted.
PLEASE NOTE: Senate Bill 554 requires that all Oregon Sheriff’s Offices increase fees for both new CHL applications and CHL renewal applications. This increase will go into effect on 9/25/21. {link to fee schedule}

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for issuing concealed handgun licenses (CHL) to county residents. Community members wanting a concealed handgun license must complete an application and meet all requirements before a license can be obtained. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
