The Suicide Prevention Program at Lane County Public Health (LCPH) invites the public to attend a Community Resilience Forum on April 14, 2022, from 6:30-7:30 PM at the Hilyard Community Center in Eugene. In recent months, deaths by suicide among youth and adolescents have deeply affected people in Lane County. At the forum, a panel of experts will share their perspectives on how community members can navigate these losses, support the needs of their families and loved ones and contribute towards a culture of prevention in Lane County.
“Talking about death can be very difficult for many of us, especially when we talk about suicide and the loss of young people,” said Del Quest, Youth Suicide Prevention Specialist at LCPH. “We look forward to sharing information on resources for coping, connection and building resilience in our communities at the forum. Recent tragedies have impacted our community, but the strengths of our community continue to grow too and we look forward to sharing that with forum attendees.”
Staff and volunteers from multiple agencies and organizations including Lane County Health and Human Services, the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Lane County, The Oregon Health Authority, Lines for Life, and the Oregon Family Support Network will be present to provide information and resource connection for youth, families and professionals.
Spanish and American Sign Language interpreters will be available on site. Childcare services will be available as well for parents. The event will be recorded and available for public viewing the following day on
preventionlane.org.
