Speed Feedback Signs

With assistance from an ODOT Safety Grant, Lane County was able to acquire four speed feedback signs to deploy throughout rural Lane County. These signs have radars that detect vehicle speeds which are displayed on a screen for the driver to see and adjust their traveling speed in accordance with the regulatory posted speed. These signs have been proven to reduce speeding, but they lose their effectiveness if they are located in the same spot for more than two weeks because they no longer capture the driver's attention. Therefore, Lane County rotates these signs on a regular basis. The initial focus on deployment is in school zones and high-crash corridors.
